The fellow in the picture was sitting basically on the doorstep of our wooden hut.

  1. In Costa Rica in 2007 we woke up in the middle of the night due to a lady screaming and yelling. We went to check what was going on and half the village was drawn to the disturbance. Then the local janitor opened the door and found the lady pointing to a massive toad/frog next to her bed.

    "Oh, it's only Coco", said the janitor.

The Savage's thin-toed frog is a species of leptodactylid frog which ranges from eastern Honduras, through Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama to Colombia adjacent to Panama, with a seemingly disjunct population present in the area of Santa Marta in northern Colombia, at elevations from close to the sea level to 660 m.
