  1. Now that's a proper photo, quite an improvement on the one I'd gotten two years ago! This not such an easy hummer in Peru, I don't think I'd seen it since, but I was lucky to have a territorial individual visiting some lantana flowers just outside the cafeteria at the station. The white-chinned sapphire is a species of hummingbird in the Trochilidae family. It is found in northern South America. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, and heavily degraded former forest.
