Trillium Fruit - Trillium erectum
After a flower gets pollinated, the petals wither and leave behind a fruit that contains the seeds. The fruit is on the end of a long stalk, which bends down toward the ground. As the fruit/seeds mature, the pressure of their growth splits the capsule open, causing the seeds to fall to the ground.
Habitat: Mesic, mixed forest
