Rainbow Lorikeet
The Rainbow Lorikeet is almost as colorful as it is noisy. The definitive aerial ambassador of South-East Brisbane, this parrot can be easily identified by its rainbow palette of feathering and high-pitched, playful scream. Like a flight aerobatic team with military precision, the lorikeets fly in low and extremely fast, dipping into backyards, shooting over fences and clearing gaps in trees by mere centimeters.

The rainbow lorikeet is a species of parrot found in Australia. It is common along the eastern seaboard, from northern Queensland to South Australia. Its habitat is rainforest, coastal bush and woodland areas. Several taxa traditionally listed as subspecies of the rainbow lorikeet are now treated as separate species.
