North Papuan Pitta, Nimbokrang, Papua
Our second, and last Pitta found in Papua. There's 3 Hooded pittas, all formerly subspecies of the Hooded Pitta. And there's this Papuan Pitta, now called Northern Papuan Pitta.
This was a 3-5 second appearance only because a kingfisher was harassing the pitta which fled immediately. I was lucky and thankful to get in a single shot.

The Papuan pitta is a species of pitta. It was formerly considered a subspecies of the red-bellied pitta. It is found in the Aru Islands, New Guinea and the northern Cape York Peninsula. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest. It is threatened by habitat loss.
