Brephidium exilis This is an american butterfly, that was brought with its host plant (used in gardening) to the Persian gulf about 15 years ago. it expanded its range, and 2 years ago was spotted in Israel, near the Dead Sea. last week I saw it for the first time at the other side of Israel - the Mediterranean shore. This is an american butterfly, that was brought with its host plant (used in gardening) to the Persian gulf about 15 years ago. it expanded its range, and 2 years ago was spotted in Israel, near the Dead Sea. last week I saw it for the first time at the other side of Israel - the Mediterranean shore.

The Western Pygmy Blue is one of the smallest butterflies in the world and is the smallest in North America. It has reached Hawaii and United Arab Emirates. It has a wingspread of about half an inch.
