Ruppells Black-chat
This is one of the white-winged chats - see photo below, although it is not by any stretch of the imagination a good photo. This bird is endemic to Ethiopia & Eritrea and has the white wing patch permanently but it is not visible when at rest. These birds do not exhibit sexual dimorphism. This bird was found just below the rim of the Rift Valley and is in typical country as they are generally seen in ravines, gorges or on cliffs, in any event on bare rock. They are generally found between 1,800 and 2,800 metres.
Rüppell's black chat is a species of bird in the family Muscicapidae. It is found in Eritrea and Ethiopia.
