White-cheeked Turaco in Juniper tree
Travelled to Ethiopia in hope of seeing Turacos and then found that we couldn't go to the planned areas where we stood a chance of seeing them. However our guide came up trumps on a one day dash to Debre Libanos - Absolutely gorgeous bird!! This is the nominate race, identified from "donaldsoni" which has its crest tipped with a dull crimson. It is a near endemic with a very small range in SE Sudan.
The White-cheeked Turaco is a species of bird in the Musophagidae family. It is found in Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Sudan. A mid-sized species is measures 43 cm in length, including a tail of 19 cm, and weighs 200–315 g.
