The top one is probably a Common Sun Skink, the one in the center Emoia jakati. I&#039;m not 100% sure about the latter, so will have it double-checked. The top one is probably a Common Sun Skink, the one in the center Emoia jakati. I'm not 100% sure about the latter, so will have it double-checked.

  2. It looks as much or more like Emoia jakati than any of the other skinks reported from this area in iNaturalist. I don't have any good reference for lizards of New Guinea though, so I'm operating fairly blindly. (Emoia jakati doesn't actually have any observations on iNaturalist from this area, but it does have confirmed observations both to the west and east, so it's reasonable to assume that it exists here.) Do you have a reference for skinks in this area? Posted one year ago
    1. Nope, unfortunately not. Instead working within the limitations of the very limited data on Papua, which admittedly is assumption-based. Based on your reasoning, will keep the current ID (as tentative) for now. Thanks again! Posted one year ago
