  1. Here's a herd of them in the wild, in the Serengeti:

African Buffalo fields, Serengeti A relatively large herd of African Buffalos in Northern Serengeti. Despite this being the dry season, the fields are relatively green. A sign that we're nearing the famous Masai Mara river. Note that I applied a tilt-shift effect to this photo. The African buffalo is a large sub-Saharan African bovine. "Syncerus caffer caffer", the Cape buffalo, is the typical subspecies, and the largest one, found in Southern and East Africa. "S. c. nanus" is the smallest subspecies, common in forest areas of Central and West Africa, while "S. c. brachyceros" is in West Africa and "S. c. aequinoctialis" is in the savannas of East Africa.
