    1. I thought it was as well. He is not the only one, other hummers that visit the feeder are also changing from not knowing they are male or are they female to they are definitely male! Their back feathers are becoming a flashier green and some of the feathers on the top of their heads are also becoming iridescent. An increase is scrappiness is also noticeable. Something about being a male! Ha! Posted one year ago
      1. Haha! I see that with my boys as they reach their teenage years...Increase in scrappy, male behavior. I can no longer tell the difference between when they are playing vs. fighting. Posted one year ago
        1. Yes, that is interesting. We had two girls. They are more subtle. Being four years apart they were and still are very good friends. Posted one year ago

Anna's hummingbird is a North American species of hummingbird. It was named after Anna Masséna, Duchess of Rivoli. It is native to western coastal regions of North America. In the early 20th century, Anna's hummingbirds bred only in northern Baja California and Southern California.
