  1. Woow! I did not know that fact! I think is then not good for them if they get fished..a fast death would be better...but from the point of view of survival in the wild it might be good if they need to survive periods of drought. I have seen documentaries of fishes moving from one pool of water to another having to slide on mud out of the water so I guess in this case this ability is a good adaptation for them.     1. Definitely. It's horrible to think of them being caught and suffering a slow death because they can still breathe out of the water. I had no idea that some fish could slide across mud to get to water! That is really cool. Smart fishys. Posted one year ago

The giant gourami is a species of large gourami native to freshwater habitats in Southeast Asia. It has also been introduced elsewhere. The species is commercially important as a food fish and is also farmed. It can be found in the aquarium trade, as well. The species has been used for weed control on highly invasive aquatic plants like ''Salvinia molesta'', as the giant gourami can be a voracious herbivore.
