Biznaga dorada or Ferocactus glaucescens

  1. You requested an ID for Biznaga dorada. But, I can't find a genus name called 'Biznaga' nor a species 'dorads'. Is that the common name, as in 'Golden Biznaga' since 'dorada' means 'golden' in Spanish?

So, I haven't added the ID because I'm confused about the taxonomy. Ferocactus glaucescens (the 1st name in your title) is a synonym to Bisnaga glaucescens. But, the common name for that species is the 'glaucous barrel cactus' without any mention of 'golden' or 'dorado'.

If you are IDing this as a 'golden' cactus, then there is the golden barrel cactus, Kroenleinia grusonii. But, I don't think this photo looks like that species?!

    Please advise :).

    1. Thank you. This is not a Golden Cactus. I have corrected the spelling and provided the scientific name. Posted 2 years ago
