Common Starling I posted a photograph of juvenile Starlings and at the same time that photograph was taken the adults were just going crazy for the suet ball, my Mother was replacing them so often, they are back building nests at the moment in the same place so I am sure I will get the opportunity again to photograph them this year in the water bath, which they love. The common starling or European starling (Sturnus vulgaris), also known simply as the starling in the British Isles, is a medium-sized passerine bird in the starling family, Sturnidae. It is about 20 cm (8 in) long and has glossy black plumage with a metallic sheen, which is speckled with white at some times of year.
