    Always a great day when you spot a forest tinamou walking along a trail!
    I've heard this species dozens of times, but it's only my third time actually seeing it! The first was that other photo on JD, on a night walk in Costa Rica in 2009, then I saw it again in Panama in 2019, and finally here in Peru. The interval seems to be getting shorter haha! The Great tinamou

The great tinamou also called mountain hen is a species of tinamou ground bird native to Central and South America. There are several subspecies, mostly differentiated by their coloration.
