
„Chorthippus brunneus“, also known as the common field grasshopper
Yesterday I had a surprise guest. I sat on my balcony and read an article. Suddenly I saw a grasshopper and the next moment it jumped on my leg. He stayed there for a while and willingly allowed himself to be filmed and photographed. It was the first visit of this kind. Its name: Chorthippus brunneus, also known as the common field grasshopper.

"Chorthippus brunneus", the "common field grasshopper", is a species of grasshopper found across Europe, much of Asia and North Africa . It is common in mostly dry and often sparse grassland, from the beginning of summer until October. Very hairy below the thorax. Song consist of short shirps like time-signal pips.
