Thalloid Red Algae - Hildenbrandia rubra

I found these red spots on various rocks in the low tide zone. I think they might be Hildenbrandia rubra.

        1. I could not find it in my book. My guess is that is either bacteria or algae colonies..
          If you have access to them gain, maybe next time bring back home a sample to watch it under the microscope (if you still have one?). I am curious so if you do it let us know :-)

''Hildenbrandia rubra'' is a marine species of thalloid red alga. It forms thin reddish crusts on rocks and pebbles in the intertidal zone and the shallow subtidal zone. It is a common species with a cosmopolitan distribution, and is able to tolerate a wide range of conditions.
