Bali Starling or Myna (Leucopsar rothschildi)
On a more positive note, Bali starlings (Leucopsar rothschildi) are doing much better in the wild here in Bali island now than ever before.
At one time, there was only one bird left in the wild, this bird had a ring which means it was released and this brings us to the conclusion that the species was extinct in the wild.
I was fortunate to manage the Begawan Foundation Breeding and Release program and we did our part in bringing this species back to the wild by releasing captive-bred birds.
My respect goes to all those who made a difference for the survival of the species. Bali Barat National Park has done a wonderful and extremely important job in protecting and caring for the species.

The Bali myna is a medium-sized, stocky myna, almost wholly white with a long, drooping crest, and black tips on the wings and tail. The bird has blue bare skin around the eyes, greyish legs and a yellow bill. Both sexes are similar. It is critically endangered and in 2018, fewer than 100 adults were assumed to exist in the wild.
