    1. We left home something like at 3:30 am to be that day in this part of the country by 5:30 am to be with a group of birders who knew where to find the bird just at sunrise and luckily we did so the short night paid off! :-)
      The birds are there all day of course but they hide in the grasses and show up most often in the early morning by the hiking paths to sing so this is the best time to make pics of them.

        1. It was very rewarding! On the other hand this summer we did something similar but in an evening walk to see badgers and it was rainy and with many people cross-biking in the area so we only saw one's butt when it was already night :-D Posted 2 years ago

The bluethroat (Luscinia svecica) is a small passerine bird that was formerly classed as a member of the thrush family Turdidae, but is now more generally considered to be an Old World flycatcher, Muscicapidae. It, and similar small European species, are often called chats.
