Purple-winged grasshopper - Titanacris albipes This grasshopper is a beast - close to 10 cm long. But, the really cool thing is that its hindwings are purple. I&#039;ve never spread a grasshopper before, but am going to put this one in a relaxing chamber to see if I can then spread it on at least one side.<br />

Purple-winged grasshopper - Titanacris albipes

This grasshopper is a beast - close to 10 cm long. But, the really cool thing is that its hindwings are purple. I've never spread a grasshopper before, but am going to put this one in a relaxing chamber to see if I can then spread it on at least one side.

"Titanacris albipes", the purple-winged grasshopper, is a large species of South American grasshopper in the family Romaleidae. This species lives in the canopy of the Amazon rainforest and also extends into the Cerrado region in gallery forest. It is often attracted to artificial light during the night.
