  1. Sorry to hear that, compliments on the photo though, the fine details you managed to capture are stunning! Posted 2 years ago
    1. Thanks :) Posted 2 years ago
  2. A beautiful looking insect is a great photograph. Why do these guys have to be so destructive particularly on the fruits that a lot of people eat? Posted 2 years ago
    1. Thank you! And, ugh I know -- it's so hard with invasive species because their natural predators are absent from the places where they are introduced. In the case of the spotted lanternfly, their populations would be kept in check by parasitic wasps in Asia. Unfortunately, we don't have those specific wasps here. Posted 2 years ago
  3. Nice! Posted 2 years ago

  4. Scary stuff, all these introduced or invasive species through either lack of controls or climate change. Nice photo though! Posted 2 years ago
    1. Thanks, and I agree -- scary indeed. Posted 2 years ago

The spotted lanternfly is a planthopper that is indigenous to China, India, and Vietnam. Although it has two pairs of wings, it jumps more than it flies. Its host plants include grapes, stone fruits, and "Malus" species, though its preferred host is "Ailanthus altissima".
