European Garden Spider - Araneus diadematus
This morning I took a picture of my new housemate basking in the glow of the rising sun. Despite being called a garden spider, this fellow has built his web on the outside of my window frame on the 7th floor of a high rise building. I've been enjoying it for a few days now. Look how perfect his web is!

The spider species "Araneus diadematus" is commonly called the European garden spider, diadem spider, orangie, cross spider and crowned orb weaver. It is sometimes called the pumpkin spider, although this name is also used for a different species, "Araneus marmoreus". It is an orb-weaver spider found in Europe and North America.
