Fieldfare - Turdus pilaris This photo was taken in Lithuania, on July 19 this year. I stayed two days at a campsite outside Kaunas. The weather changed every 15 min and I was either hiding in the tent or following a few birds around and taking pictures. You can see the raindrops on the back of the thrush. The Fieldfare is a member of the thrush family Turdidae. It breeds in woodland and scrub in northern Europe and Asia. It is strongly migratory, with many northern birds moving south during the winter. It is a very rare breeder in Great Britain and Ireland, but winters in large numbers in these countries.
