  1. I've removed the ID because this bee looks more like an Eastern Carpenter Bee (Xylocopa virginica). They have long, shiny, black abdomens like the bee in your photo. In comparison, Bombus pensylvanicus has a fuzzy yellow abdomen. Posted 2 years ago

The common eastern carpenter bee, "Xylocopa virginica", is the carpenter bee most often encountered in the eastern United States. It is often mistaken for a large bumblebee species, as they are similar in size and coloring.
