  1. With a storm petrel in the back providing a bit of scale...
    And that's a mollymawk, i.e. a small albatross, with a fairly puny wingspan of 2.5 meters. A Wandering albatross can reach 3.5 meters!

    1. I think I was at a fairly advanced age before I discovered the size of an albatross, only because I saw a photo of one next to a person. Was quite the shock! Posted 2 years ago

Salvin's albatross, or Salvin's mollymawk, "Thalassarche salvini", is a large seabird that ranges across the Southern Ocean. A medium-sized mollymawk in the albatross family, it was long considered to be a subspecies of the shy albatross. It is a medium-sized black and white albatross.
