High Plains
The high plains of Teddy Roosevelt National Park may look plain, but they are anything but. It is a diverse ecosystem. In this photo alone, one can point out a small burr or scrub oak to the left, several junipers and American elm trees in the background, and many different prairie grasses including big and little bluestem, side oats, etc. Mule deer and bison roam these plains, as well as whitetail deer and coyotes, and there are several prairie dog towns in the area as well.
