  1. I was walking along a path lined with olive and oak trees, with severely overgrazed pastures dotted with Asphodels, thinking "Welp, this might as well be southern France" ... Until I ran into this beast of an arum, with a spathe as long as my forearm, an unequivocal reminder that Greece definitely is something else! Posted 2 years ago

Dracunculus vulgaris is a species of aroid in the genus Dracunculus. In Greece, part of its native range, the plant is called drakondia, the long spadix being viewed as a small dragon hiding in the spathe.
