    1. Quite an obscure one, somehow not very known outside the Leps app.
      Thanks!

        1. Do you think this one is the same species?

          1. You mean as in synonyms?

There's something weird about this Periclina saeta species name. It's not known at iNat, GBIF, eol.org. Even on Google our own page ranks first.

Yet Leps accepts it and has several photos. What do they know that the rest of the world doesn't?

            1. No, I meant as in wrongly identified. I was wondering if they are both actually Periclina saeta and the Antiblemma one is misidentified.

I can't find Periclina saeta anywhere else either. I was hoping it was just obscure, but looked into it a bit and found what appears to be the same species listed online as Heterolocha saeta and Melinodes saeta.

I have no idea which genus is correct.

              1. Got it. If the name Periclina saeta is so disputed, I wonder if its a good idea to move more observations to it? I do agree that these might be a singular species, just unsure which name would be wise to use. Posted 2 years ago
                1. Agree. At least we have the link for the other moth in the comments above. Maybe the ID will be cleared up at some point. But, it makes no sense to re-identify something that we don't know the correct genus for. Posted 2 years ago
        2. Thanks, but I'd call it a moderate result only. Only 2-3 sessions during a pretty lengthy trip. Still, it does add up. Posted 2 years ago
          1. Every little bit from different locations adds up! Posted 2 years ago
