Namaqua Dove (Oena capensis), by Mudhafar Salim Since this species (Oena capensis) was first recorded for Iraq at mid 2000s by M. Salim in southern Iraq, it took in rapid expansion in Iraq as part of their global expansion northward from their African origin. Now, the Iraqi Organization for Conservation of Nature (IOCN) represented by the current surveys led by Mudhafar Salim in Iraq, discovered noticeable increase in their breeding population and expanding their range in Iraq. The Namaqua Dove is a small pigeon. It is the only species in the genus "Oena."
