The Female Flowers of the Pond or Watershield. I was lucky enough that the wind was blowing the fragile &ldquo;dock&rdquo; I was kneeling on close enough to these blossoms to get a reasonable photo. I have to believe that this is their first showing because the anthers are not displayed.<br />

"Brasenia" is a genus belonging to the family Cabombaceae, consisting of one species, "Brasenia schreberi". It is widely distributed in North America, the West Indies, northern South America, eastern Asia, Australia, the Indian Subcontinent, and parts of Africa.
