a small white egret that has two ribbon-like nuptial head plumes mostly hangs out in shallow waters and mud flats hunting fish frogs and various invertebrates, when hunting will stand motionless waiting and watching but on sighting its dinner will suddenly dash after it on the run often raising is wings, averaging two or three attacks a minute is successful about half the time ...not bad odds when your hungry
