        1. And there are some 10 more that are shared with either Bolivia and Ecuador! Since they're functionally flightless, with time basically every population separated by a really deep river valley or found on an isolated cordillera has become a different species. To give you examples from Colombia that you are more likely to be more familiar with, the Perija Cordillera , Cerro Tacarcuna in the Darién, the Santa Marta mountains, and Tatama (representing the Pacific slope of Colombia's western Andes) each have an endemic tapaculo. The neblina tapaculo is a species of bird in the family Rhinocryptidae. It is endemic to the Andes of northern Peru.
