  1. Cool! Hope your cat doesn't give the dove a heart attack. Posted 2 years ago
    1. Well, she's the neighbor's cat 2 houses down. She escapes from the window to see me most mornings and to get breakfast. She's already brought me dead mice and a lizard.
I had a dove at my former residence also nest in a pot on the air-conditioner over a decade ago. Her babies survived even though she was next to the door. She lost her babies previously when she had them in a tree. Random cat.

      1. Sweet that she brings you gifts, at least. But, I feel bad for the local wildlife. My cats stay indoors -- mostly for their safety. They are big babies and would no doubt get eaten by a wild animal if I let them outside. Posted 2 years ago

The mourning dove is a member of the dove family, Columbidae. The bird is also known as the American mourning dove, the rain dove, colloquially as the turtle dove, and it was once known as the Carolina pigeon and Carolina turtledove. It is one of the most abundant and widespread of all North American birds.
