Small coppery moth

This alas, was all that ended up in my mushroom bucket… tons of blowdowns this year (and I’ve the bruises to prove it), but not a single morel.

I’ve found several moths that are close in appearance, but nothing that looks quite right yet.. my laptop is pooping out too.. I’ve ordered a new one, but it may be a week or so before I am back to not having to use my phone as my primary device..

  1. Sereda tautana looks close, although not very common in your area.

      1. I remember you're a Mac user, right? I think Apple announced new ones last night, the coincidence ;) Posted 2 years ago
        1. Indeed- and I got sucked in, which is why I have to wait a week… I’m replacing my pro with an air in the same size. Posted 2 years ago
          1. Sorry about your laptop! Ferdy's suggestion does look similar, but Grapholita sp. is also a possibility and the range is a better fit. Otherwise, I would just guess Tribe Grapholitini. Posted 2 years ago
            1. That genus does look like a better match, thanks! Posted 2 years ago

            2. I'm thinking Grapholita lunatana https://bugguide.net/node/view/338366 is looking like a very good match. The host plant makes sense for the area too - not a lot of fruit trees up on the mountain, but lupin and other pea/vetches definitely. Posted 2 years ago
              1. Looks good! Posted 2 years ago
