  1. Now we're talking!
I'd been dreaming about this species for years, one of the prettiest members of the genus in my opinion, and I finally got to see it! This was one of the main motivations for my trip, my first visit to Greece, and I hope to go back to some other part of the country next year to look for some of its relatives.

Ophrys ariadnae is an orchid species that is endemic to Greece. Closely related to Ophrys cretica, it is found in the Cyclades, Karpathos and in Crete, and is named after the tragic princess Ariadne, daughter of the mythological Cretan king Minos, who helped Theseus through the Minotaur's labyrinth, only to be abandoned by him once after left the island.
