  1. Wow, never heard of this one, looks like a large dik-dik? You got impossibly close for a creature described as very shy and hiding by day. Posted 2 years ago
    1. They're just about in the same class as dik-diks (30-40 cm tall, 5 kg). And yes they are quite shy, with multiple individuals that ran away from me as we walked through the woods. I finally got lucky with this one, I spotted it from a distance as it was foraging on a path parallel to us and sort of let it come towards me. Even though, it was clear that it was skittish and I didn't move a single step in the whole two or three minutes as it came past me and walked away into the forest.
      Arabuko Sokoke was a bust in terms of birds (I was so hoping for the owl), but it did deliver in terms of mammals!
