  1. My first sengi (previously known as elephant-shrews)! Funnily enough, Arabuko Sokoke is famous for a different species, which I saw as well, although the photos came out significantly worse. This one is nocturnal, and much less often seen there! Posted 2 years ago, modified 2 years ago
    1. Remarkable to capture one at all, I believe they live their life in turbo mode? Posted 2 years ago
      1. This one was quite relaxed, probably because it was the middle of the "night" for him! As for the other species, they were indeed quite skittish! They have a very funny way of hop-running away when startled. Posted 2 years ago
  2. An amazing image Posted 2 years ago

The four-toed sengi is the only living species in the genus "Petrodromus", which together with five other extant genera "Rhynchocyon", "Macroscelides", "Petrosaltator", "Galegeeska" and "Elephantulus" constitutes the order Macroscelidea. This species is only found in particular regions in Africa and is smaller than its relatives.
