Red-backed Mannikin (Spermestes bicolor ssp. nigriceps)

The Red-backed Mannikin is a small gregarious bird found in eastern and southern Africa. Generally considered a subspecies of the Black-and-white Mannikin, it is characterized by its distinctive brick-red back.
