      1. Just something about the way the Andean ecosystems change as you move further south, I guess. The Marañon valley in northern Peru is a massive biogeographic barrier, and the high Andes to the south of it tend to be drier, so that they have puna grasslands and Polylepis forests instead (though Polylepis also occur to the north). Far northern Peru does have so-called paramos, but they lack frailejones. Posted 2 years ago
