  1. There seems to be very little information about this particular species and so I quote from 'The Field Guide to Insects of South Africa:
    Medium sized (wing-span 19mm) with thick, complete yellow abdominal bands, brown thoracic stripe and very large red eyes. Hovers very accurately and conspicuously in patches of sunlight in forest gaps or even gardens. Proboscis can be extended considerably to reach inside flowers.
