Leafhopper (Euscelis incisus)
This sighting was a verry fortunate one as this individual had the good grace to literally flash before my eyes (right to left) before landing on a small stem just cms away.
It was also fortunate I already happened to have my nose close to the ground investigating an earlier, unrelated surface movement. There's not a chance you'd see this fella going about its business in short grass from a standing position.
For a very close look and for species information (if you're an Olive Tree, look away now) follow this link:
"Euscelis incisa" is a leafhopper species in the family Cicadellidae. It is found in Europe, North Africa, and Asia. It is formerly known as "Euscelis plebejus", among other names.
