A Hairy Woodpecker! Hairy Woodpeckers look quite similar to Downy Woodpeckers with Hairy Woodpeckers being larger. That’s hard to determine without having the two species side by side. Another determining factor is the length of the bill. The bill of the Hairy has been described as a spike and is nearly the same length as the width of its head. The Downy’s beak is shorter and stouter. Canada,Geotagged,Hairy woodpecker,Leuconotopicus villosus,Spring Click/tap to enlarge Promoted
