Fields of Wildebeests Being from a tiny, overcrowded, fully urbanized country, I can't stop staring at scenes like these. The sense of open space, especially wild space, just isn't available where I come from. This scenes shows Wildebeests and Zebras clearing the grass of an open plain. To the right are the famous "kopjes", volcanic rock surfacing on the open plains. The blue wildebeest is a large antelope and one of the two species of wildebeest. It is placed in the genus "Connochaetes" and family Bovidae and has a close taxonomic relationship with the black wildebeest. The blue wildebeest is known to have five subspecies. This broad-shouldered antelope has a muscular, front-heavy appearance, with a distinctive robust muzzle.
