I don't pretend to be an expert on falcons, but I don't think Eleonora's can ever be that pale below, especially the underwing coverts, which should always be dark, and the leg feathers should be reddish or dark brown as well. Based on the very pale, lightly spotted underparts and narrow mustache, I think this is a Lanner Falcon, which is also much more common in Chad. Posted 2 years ago, modified 2 years ago
    1. Thanks Thibaud, I really had hard time with this one, and I admit I didn't go this far into details. I have asked to some bird wizards to confirm your valuable points.

The lanner falcon is a medium-sized bird of prey that breeds in Africa, southeast Europe and just into Asia. It prefers open habitat and is mainly resident, but some birds disperse more widely after the breeding season. A large falcon, it preys on birds and bats.
