      1. Thanks for adding a second photo. Are you certain of the ID? Your spider really looks a lot like Trichonephila sp.:

        The abdominal pattern and legs are a much better match. In contrast, Nephila constricta has stripes on the abdomen that go the long way and orange markings on the legs.

        1. Agreed. Re-identified it as Trichonephila fenestrata, also for the other photo.
          @Duarte: please do not change it back, unless you have solid evidence that the other species is more likely.

"Trichonephilia fenestrata" is a species of araneid spider known to be found in South Africa and Zambia. Males of this species often autotomize their legs as a counter adaptation to the sexual cannibalism of females.
