Blue flower wasp What a wonderful sight this was to come upon. With wings of deep metallic blue and a jet black body. I saw it on the wing at first, the flash of colour as the sunlight hit the wings, catching my eye. <br />

Then I observed it land to scout around and there were some attempts to burrow in to the ground - at one stage disappearing completely. I&#039;m wondering therefore if this is a female, as they lay their eggs on beetle larvae after paralyzing them.  <br />

Austroscolia soror is a flower wasp in the Austroscolia genus. It is endemic to Australia.
