2nd chance for Lioness in Serengeti
This Lioness in the Serengeti has a very nasty wound, one that likely would be fatal in the wild. However, it is wearing a collar and the wound seems treated. Although our guide did not know the story of this Lioness, likely this is the work of the German research centre which houses right in the middle of Central Serengeti.
As for the state of Lions in Serengeti, they really do require wildlife management. One particular problem is the inbred of Lions.

The lion is one of the five big cats in the genus "Panthera" and a member of the family Felidae. The commonly used term African lion collectively denotes the several subspecies found in Africa. With some males exceeding 250 kg in weight, it is the second-largest living cat after the tiger.
