  1. In desperation I sent a pic off to www.spiderzrule.com and the guy there believes it is probably a Leucauge venusta (Orchard spider). At least it is not a button and I just hope that this is the correct identification because this little guy is getting just a little fed up with me taking zillions of photos of it!     1. It doesn't seem very likely to me - the Orchard spider (Leucauge venusta) is only found in America.
      Unfortunately, all the photos show the underside or a side view, but not a top view of the back.

      1. You are absolutely right of course, unless they jumped on a plane. So back to the drawing board so to speak.
        This little critter may not have a proper name but I have certainly given it some of my own...have you any idea how hard it is to photograph something less than 5mm that likes to hang upside down with its web against a wall? But this is now a serious challenge now, so I shall try again! :)
