  1. I was walking down a path, and out of the corner of my eye saw a flash of color disappear at the bottom of the pond. I thought: "Cool, must be an awesome frog!"
The pond was really shallow so I debated gently lifting leaves to try and find its hiding spot, but I figured hmm, it's the Amazon, never know what else might be in there. I'll just wait until the frog comes up for air.
And I did well, as when the "frog" finally emerged, it turned out to be this massive spider!

    1. Recently discovered this gem of a website:
      https://www.wandering-spiders.net/

Has some precious information about the different neotropical genuses and how very stressful and dangerous their lives on the forest floor really is.
