Amblyomma tholloni, the african elephant tick, this picture was taken during the night when I did a walk in the forest in National Park of La Lopé in Gabon.
It is called the elephant tick not because it is big but because adults are mainly found feeding on elephants !

    1. It's like 6 to 7mm when not engorged. But females with a blood meal can expand to 2cm !!! Posted 2 months ago
